Philosophy and Sociology of Music Education & Music Education Policy

Philosophy of music education investigates the foundations of music education, while music education policy is concerned with the political framework and its impact on music education. At LMU music education, a special focus is on critical approaches to music education’s and community music’s social mission and responsibility, but likewise on aesthetic experience and aesthetic education. Political research is concerned with aspects such as inclusion, arts advocacy or international aspects of music teacher education.
